Muzeiko, the largest children’s science center in Eastern Europe, invites you to explore the fascinating world of chemistry this March.
Located in Sofia, Muzeiko offers over 130 interactive exhibitions and programs in both English and Bulgarian, creating a unique and engaging experience for families and curious kids.
For 10 years, the name Muzeiko has embodied the spirit of curiosity and discovery. Derived from the Bulgarian word for "museum," it is affectionately adapted with the diminutive suffix “-ko,” symbolizing a childlike sense of wonder and a playful approach to learning. More than a museum, Muzeiko is a space where young minds can explore, create, and grow in an interactive and stimulating environment.
This month’s theme is chemistry – the science of transformation. The Open Chemistry Lab invites children aged 7+ to experiment with making jelly and learn the principles behind everyday chemical phenomena. Held throughout the week, these hands-on workshops offer an exciting way to dive into the fundamentals of chemistry.
The Planetarium features daily shows, including the popular "A Walk Through the Solar System" presented in English every day at 1:30 PM. Suitable for children aged 6 and up, this immersive experience explores the secrets of planets, stars, and the potential for life beyond Earth.
March also celebrates Bulgaria’s cultural heritage. On March 1, visitors can craft Martenitsa – bracelets, symbols of health and joy, as part of the Baba Marta tradition. Activities on March 3 honor Bulgaria’s National Day with a focus on local customs and history.
Thematic weekends bring extra excitement:"Profession Under the Magnifying Glass" on March 8 invites children to meet an expert chemist, who will share insights about their work, answer questions, and inspire young minds through an engaging discussion. "Little Explorers’ Day" on March 16 offers programs tailored for children under 5, while "Creative Challenges" on March 23 inspires kids to combine science and imagination in innovative projects.
With its bilingual programming and focus on discovery, Muzeiko is the perfect destination for local and international families visiting Sofia this March.
